David Hart, 22, of West Winfield, New York, made 95 calls to UK numbers between late October and mid-November 2023, including 66 to London. Targets included seven hospitals such as Guy's and St Thomas', six bars, restaurants and supermarkets, two police control rooms, a cancer support centre and an attempted call to Westminster Abbey. Call recipients were threatened with bombs and imminent explosions; police said a significant number of calls connected and described them as sustained and persistent, sometimes lasting almost half an hour. Venues were searched and one hospital entered full lockdown. In November 2025 Hart was sentenced to 12 months in prison and two years of supervised release.
