Royal Mail issued a set of ten commemorative stamps to mark the 200th anniversary of the first passenger railway. The main set features six of the UK's most famous locomotives that helped shape rail travel in Britain. A four-stamp miniature sheet commemorates the Stockton and Darlington Railway (S&DR) opening and includes artwork of the 1825 opening, a historic image of Locomotion No. 1 circa 1890, a 1925 centenary postcard, and a 1975 photograph of a replica Locomotion No. 1. Royal Mail collaborated with the National Railway Museum and Darlington Council. Stamps and collectable products are available to pre-order, with general sale from 25 September.
