Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe urges Starmer not to get dragged into Trump war on Iran
"Nobody can claim to want the end of the Islamic republic more than we do. But attacking the country in this way will have the opposite effect. It will entrench the authoritarians and give life"
More than 100 Iranians living in the United Kingdom have signed a letter to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer opposing further military escalation against Iran. The letter, co-signed by two former Iranian political prisoners, warns that military attacks will entrench authoritarianism and strengthen the regime rather than weaken it. The signatories propose alternative peaceful measures to support internal opposition, including providing Starlink internet services to circumvent communications blackouts within Iran. This appeal follows the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Israeli airstrikes and his succession by his son Mojtaba Khamenei.
