Sixteen new measles cases were recorded in Enfield and ten in Haringey in the past week, bringing London’s total to 88 cases since the start of the year, with most cases in children under ten. Children who are not fully vaccinated and who have been exposed risk exclusion from school. The average measles vaccination rate in England was 83.7% in 2024–2025, while London’s rate was 69.6% and Enfield’s was 64.3%. Low uptake has been linked to online misinformation and complacency despite vaccines being safe and complications possible. Vaccination programmes are being taken into communities and places of worship, and local and national partners are coordinating to limit spread.
