The Independent Office for Police Conduct has stopped its investigation into former Met Police officer Steve Rodhouse, who led Operation Midland concerning false sex abuse allegations. Allegations against him regarding media comments in 2016 were deemed ill-founded. Rodhouse expressed gratitude for the decision but sought clarity on the circumstances leading to the proceedings. Operation Midland was based on claims by Carl Beech, who was later convicted for making false allegations. The IOPC's investigation focused on discrepancies between Rodhouse's private and public comments.
The IOPC stated it had ceased investigating Steve Rodhouse after a significant volume of relevant material was disclosed by the Met Police, involved in high-profile false allegations.
Mr. Rodhouse welcomed the decision to withdraw the proceedings, stating that the allegations against him were 'ill-founded and incorrect' while seeking clarity on how the situation arose.
