Met Police accused of 'brushing under carpet' claim officer ran grooming gang abusing girls in care
"Ms Bush was told he (the officer) would pick her up, put her on his knee and would fondle her, on several occasions, and there was a real depth of distress. There were toys in the (police investigation) room, and she cuddled the toys and she needed them. I just sat there quietly while she spoke on the horror that happened to her in her childhood."
"They were all about eight-years-old, little tiny children, and she said he would only pick the pretty ones, and it was undoubtedly connected to this police officer. Certainly, bad physical and sexual abuse was perpetrated on her and on the others. When I came out of that room, one of the detectives said we believe her, it's clear'."
Two women who grew up in care homes made complaints about a custody sergeant months apart in 2012. Scotland Yard launched a criminal investigation into claims that the officer abused one woman as a child and shared her with other powerful men, said to include an MP and a judge, at a Park Lane hotel. One victim alleged the officer targeted attractive girls from the care system over several years. A second woman reported abuse when she saw the sergeant behind a west London custody desk. The Metropolitan Police noted many allegations involve familial, peer-on-peer and institutional exploitation. The officer has retired and denies the allegations.
