"An elderly man is fighting for life after being hit by an e-scooter whose rider then fled the scene. The pedestrian, in his 80s, suffered serious injuries in a collision with the electric vehicle travelling westbound along The Vale, Ealing. A force spokesman said: A man in his 80s was treated and taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition. The driver of the e-scooter stopped briefly before abandoning the scooter and heading off on foot along The Vale towards Acton."

An elderly man in his 80s was struck by an e-scooter on The Vale, Ealing and remains in life-threatening condition in hospital. The e-scooter rider briefly stopped, abandoned the scooter, and fled on foot towards Acton. The Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them with any information. A separate e-scooter rider in his 20s died after a collision with a No 136 bus on Southampton Way, Peckham. In 2024 there were 1,312 e-scooter collisions across the UK, with six fatalities.
