Man fighting for his life after serious crash closes A13 in Beckton for 12 hours

A car crashed into a bollard, street furniture, a tree, and overturned at the junction of Noel Road and the Newham Way section of the A13. The 24-year-old driver escaped but sustained serious injuries, leading to his hospitalization in a life-threatening condition. At 20:28hrs on Monday, 30 June police were called to Noel Road at the junction with Newham Way E13, following a report of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle that had collided with a bollard and a tree, then overturned.
Despite the 24-year-old driver managing to escape the car before the emergency services arrived, he sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition.
The A13 was closed London-bound while a crash investigation was carried out and only reopened 12 hours later, around 8.30am the following morning.
In that time, severe traffic had built up with queues of over 10 miles stretching back to Romford.
