
"Ryan Swan was charged after allegedly taking the knife into a Sainsbury's Local store on Central Road, Morden on 19 August last year. He was also charged with making or knowingly possessing quantity of explosive black powder on or before that date. The 42-year-old appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Monday where he pleaded not guilty to the offences and is due to stand trial in September."
"Swan, from Green Lane, Morden appeared by video-link from HMP Thameside. Judge Peter Lodder KC told him: "Although you are in custody, if you do not attend either of those hearings they will almost certainly proceed without you. "And, so far as the trial is concerned, if you do not attend, you may not be represented. Do you understand?" The defendant replied: "Yes my lord, thank you my lord." He will next appear at the same court on 12 February."
