Merseyside Police stopped a vehicle during a driving test after noticing a defective brake light and poor driving on King Street in St Helens. Officers detected the smell of cannabis and conducted a drugs wipe test, which the driver failed. The 26-year-old learner driver from Wigan was found to be in possession of cannabis and was arrested. The driving test was immediately terminated. The driver was subsequently released from police custody under investigation. Police emphasized the dangers of defective brake lights for vehicle occupants and other road users.
