Christine Henry captured a remarkable photograph of a leucistic treecreeper in Epping Forest, Essex, on June 15. This genetic condition leads to reduced pigmentation in animals, resulting in an unusual all-white appearance. Experts from the RSPB confirmed the sighting, noting its rarity, as no previous photographs of such a bird are known in the UK. Christine expressed her disbelief and excitement at encountering the striking bird while photographing wildlife. Her friend Mark O'Dell echoed this rarity, emphasizing the uniqueness of such a sighting in the birding community.
I was absolutely mind blown, I couldn't believe what I was seeing through the lens. It's a really clean and beautiful pure white - whatever it lands on it reflects, for example the green leaf or brown bark.
Pure white treecreepers are very rare. There's two - one like an albino with pink eyes and ones that are pure white - it's totally unusual.
