Gunman who posed as Deliveroo rider jailed for 38 years after shooting father and his eight-year-old daughter
"A suspected hitman who shot an eight-year-old girl and her father while pretending to be a Deliveroo driver has been jailed for 38 years. According to the girl's mother, she has now been left "a shadow of the bubbly, bright, larger than life character she once was", following the incident, adding Reid's actions had "completely shattered both my life and my family's"."
"The mother-of-four said the impact of the incident remained "enormous", adding: "I have frequent flashbacks and relive that evening every day. Sentencing at the Old Bailey, Judge Sarah Whitehouse KC said "no sentence that I pass" would alleviate the family's suffering, with the shooting leaving the father "unlikely to ever walk again" and his daughter with OCD. Reid was also convicted at this trial of wounding a second man with intent on October 9 2024 and a string of firearms offences."
"Jazz Reid, dressed as a Deliveroo rider, caught on CCTV last November 6 Judge Whitehouse said the lack of motive in the shooting was of great concern and raised the possibility of "contract killings", given there was no evidence Reid knew his victims. She said Reid might have carried out the shootings on behalf of others for reasons "relating to drug dealing or some other financial gain"."
A man disguised as a Deliveroo rider shot an eight-year-old girl and her father and was sentenced to 38 years plus five years on licence. The father is unlikely to ever walk again and the daughter developed OCD; the mother said the daughter became a shadow of her former bubbly self and that she has frequent flashbacks. The shooter, Jazz Reid, was convicted of wounding a second man with intent and multiple firearms offences. Three linked shootings used two guns; one pistol was recovered under a concrete slab and a 9mm self-loading pistol and moped were later seized. Each attack was planned with precision using a hire car, disguise and switched phones and SIM cards. Lack of motive raised concerns about possible contract killings for drug dealing or financial gain.
