"Under his leadership, Canterbury have also won two domestic 50-over competitions and are currently second in the Plunkett Shield. "I have always followed county cricket and wanted an opportunity to be a part of it," Fulton said. "The club has a rich history and I can't wait to arrive and get to work on building a cricket team of which the club and supporters can continue to be very proud of.""
""After a thorough process with a number of high-quality candidates, Peter emerged as an ambitious, exciting and hugely talented coach, with a proven track record of success in New Zealand domestic cricket with Canterbury," Middlesex director of cricket Alan Coleman said. "Along with this, he has helped produce a number of Black Cap players from his teams with producing international players a key ambition of the club over the coming seasons.""
Peter Fulton, a former New Zealand Test player, has been appointed Middlesex men's head coach on a three-year contract, joining from Canterbury. Fulton, 47, played 23 Tests and replaces Dane Vilas, who had been interim head following Richard Johnson's departure. Fulton has led Canterbury since 2020, winning the Plunkett Shield in his first year and securing two domestic 50-over titles, with Canterbury currently second in the Plunkett Shield. Middlesex finished fourth in Division Two of the County Championship in 2025 and reached the One Day Cup quarter-finals. The club secured an early release from Canterbury to allow Fulton to join pre-season training at Lord's.
