Faced with 40B budget hole, UK commits 9B to Microsoft
Briefly

The UK public sector has initiated a Strategic Partnership Arrangement 2024 (SPA24) to spend approximately £9 billion on Microsoft products and services over five years. The agreement allows public bodies to utilize collectively negotiated discounts on Microsoft products and is intended to enhance the value provided to sectors like education, health, and emergency services. Approximately £1.9 billion has already been spent under SPA24 in the financial year 2024/25, and this spending is expected to stabilize annually. The arrangement encourages purchases through resellers rather than directly from Microsoft.
The UK public sector expects to spend around £9 billion on Microsoft products and services over five years under its current contract.
Through SPA24, approximately £1.9 billion has been spent on Microsoft software licences via third-party resellers in the financial year 2024/25.
