"When the discovery was reported to us, we immediately got to work on establishing who this man was. In the absence of any personal belongings other than the wetsuit he was wearing, no identification documents or vehicles nearby, we began by working with neighbouring police forces to conduct checks for missing or wanted people who had not been traced."
A body discovered in Claerwen Reservoir, Powys, in October 2024 has remained unidentified over a year later. The man, found wearing a wetsuit, is believed to have been in the water for approximately 12 weeks. Dyfed-Powys Police created a facial reconstruction through Face Lab at Liverpool John Moores University to aid identification. Despite extensive investigative efforts including checks with neighboring police forces, searches through the Police National Database, and international inquiries via Interpol, the man's identity remains unknown. Police released the reconstruction publicly, appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
