'Extraordinary' baby Elsa abandoned in shopping bag on east London street to be adopted
"Elsa is a beautiful little girl, a raucous bundle of excitement and laughter. I am pleased to have seen photos of her. I know from reports that she lights up the space around her. She is happy and settled in her new family, as yet unaware of how she differs from other children. Her best chance in life comes with a permanent placement in an alternative family."
"The Metropolitan Police has since said that their enquiries have been 'exhausted', but reiterated a plea for anyone with information to come forward. These siblings share something quite extraordinary. No one that they will meet in life is likely to understand what it is like to be a foundling, but they each know and understand."
A newborn girl found abandoned in a carrier bag in Newham, east London, in January 2024 has been cared for by foster carers and is to be adopted by them. She will maintain contact with her brother Harry, 8, and sister Roman, 6, who were found in the same area in 2017 and 2019 and have been adopted. Extensive police enquiries have failed to locate the parents and are described as exhausted, with a plea for information remaining. A judge ruled that the child should remain with current carers to enable an adoption application and noted that abandoned registrations are rare.
