Remains exhumed from a grave in Annyalla, Co Monaghan, have been confirmed not to belong to Joe Lynskey, a Disappeared victim of the Troubles, nor to his family. The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) stated that these remains also do not belong to any other victims linked to IRA activities. An Garda Siochana is now involved in identifying the remains, which were exhumed due to historical concerns related to activities from the 1970s, potentially connected to Lynskey's murder.
