Berthia and Romuald Williams, two pensioners living in Hampstead, are facing imminent eviction due to a Section 21 'no fault' order, which they were unaware of until recently. With health concerns and challenges from letting agents, they are worried about finding a new affordable home. Despite having never missed rent payments, the duo's concerns are compounded by ageism and racism. Their daughter Lissa struggles against the legal complexities as they try to contest the order and stress the system's bias toward landlords. They have sought support from United Legal Access.
Understanding the system is so hard even for me to try and help. It's so heavily weighted in favour of landlords.
We are looking for somewhere else to live but we can't stretch to the prices they are asking for and if the council can't help us, I don't know what we are going to do.
