Drug smugglers caught with 37 million of cocaine in inflatable boat are jailed
Briefly

Bruce Knowles and Ferhat Gumrukguoglu have been sentenced to 17 years and 15 years in prison respectively for attempting to smuggle 350kg of high-purity cocaine into the UK on an inflatable boat. Their arrest occurred near East Benacre Broads after they attempted to evade Border Force officials. The two had previously completed a dry run and had a van ready for drug transport. The investigation highlighted concerns over the significant roles played by the smugglers in their drug trafficking operation, leading to substantial sentencing.
Paul Orchard, NCA operations manager, stated that this was a "fast-moving and dynamic interception of two men attempting to smuggle in a huge quantity of Class A drugs."
The court determined that Knowles and Gumrukguoglu's substantial roles in drug smuggling warranted significant sentences to deter similar criminal activities.
