A volcanic eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Indonesia has led to substantial flight cancellations from Bali Ngurah Rai Airport, with delays manifesting due to the ash cloud reaching over 10 kilometers high. Communities around the volcano are facing threats from potential lava floods during heavy rains. The UK FCDO has issued travel warnings against approaching specified distances near several active volcanoes in the region. Despite the disruptions, local residents are not surprised, recognizing the volcano's history of activity.
As a result of the volcanic activity, the UK FCDO is advising against all travel to areas near multiple volcanic craters, including Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.
The National Board for Disaster Management reported that the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption sent an ash cloud reaching more than 10 kilometers into the sky.
