Police Scotland officers respond to a domestic abuse call every eight minutes, per the latest figures. More than 66,000 incidents were reported between October 2024 and September this year, of which 40.3 per cent resulted in a crime being recorded."
Thirty-two serial domestic abusers received combined prison terms exceeding 228 years in 2025 following convictions for 240 offences involving 110 victims, all women and children. Sentences included a single 17-year term. Offences prosecuted under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act encompassed rape, sexual assault, stalking, permanent disfigurement, danger to life, and threats against pets. Domestic abuse incidents rose by 10 per cent over the last year while detection rates rose nearly 8 per cent. Police Scotland logged more than 66,000 incidents between October 2024 and September, with 40.3 per cent recorded as crimes. The force emphasized victim support and partnership working.
