PC Giovanni Mascia, a Metropolitan Police officer, was dismissed following a misconduct hearing that found he assaulted and threatened a woman between August and November 2022 while off duty. The panel confirmed he assaulted her twice and issued a death threat, along with a threat to destroy her property. Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell condemned Mascia's actions as disgraceful and not reflective of police standards. Following the ruling, Mascia is barred from police-related employment and will remain on a barred list.
The panel ruled that PC Mascia assaulted the woman on two separate occasions - in October and November 2022 - and that he threatened to kill her in October 2022.
Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell, from the East Area Command Unit, said: "PC Mascia's behaviour was disgraceful, and fell far below the standards expected of Metropolitan Police officers."
PC Mascia will now be placed on the College of Policing's barred list, banning him from employment with the police, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct or His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
