"From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground."
"Melissa Revell said that self-exploration exercises on the 2,250 course, which she attended in Goa in 2019, triggered a meltdown which has left her unable to work. The 35-year-old said she was retraumatised when memories relating to being adopted were triggered by unadvertised psychological exercises. She was in good health both physically and mentally before the course, but now cannot look after herself or exercise and has gone from a size six to a size 16, she said."
The Independent covers a broad range of issues and states that donations allow continued on-the-ground reporting, investigative work and documentary production while keeping content paywall-free. A British dance teacher, Melissa Revell, attended a 2,250 course in Goa in 2019. Self-exploration exercises on the course triggered a severe meltdown and retraumatisation linked to adoption memories. Revell says she was fit and mentally well before the course but subsequently became unable to work, unable to exercise, and experienced significant weight gain and social withdrawal. Revell sued TYP International Ltd for over £200,000; the company has dropped its defence and she is in line for a payout.
