Child Q strip-search was gross misconduct
Briefly

A misconduct panel has ruled that two of the police officers who strip-searched a 15-year-old schoolgirl, referred to as Child Q, engaged in gross misconduct. The incident occurred in December 2020 at her school in Hackney, where the girl was wrongfully suspected of having cannabis. During the search, she was on her menstrual period and had to expose her intimate parts without an appropriate adult present. Although it was noted that black schoolchildren are often treated as older and less vulnerable, neither age nor race influenced the specific treatment of Child Q. No drugs were found during the search.
