A woman encountered an unknown man in the corridor of her apartment building on New Cavendish Street, Westminster at about 23:40 BST on 30 July. After she challenged him, the man followed her into her flat, placed his hand over her mouth and tried to force his way in. The victim's partner, who was inside the flat, chased the intruder off. The Met Police released CCTV images and asked anyone who recognises the man to contact them. The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 9in, balding, initially wearing a grey T-shirt and blue jeans and later a brown hoodie, and speaking with a non-British accent possibly Scandinavian, Australian or from New Zealand. The incident left the victim and her family in distress and no similar incidents have been reported in the area.
