"Homes in Croydon are gradually having their running water restored after a burst pipe caused chaos among local residents. Up to 18,000 homes across Croydon and neighbouring boroughs were left without water, or with very low pressure, after a pipe burst on Tuesday morning. Addressing residents online, Thames Water confirmed that they were working as quickly as possible after identifying a burst pipe in a field next to Watneys Road."
"In the latest update, Thames Water confirmed that they were still on site, and would be working toward redirecting water through different piping systems so homes could have access to water today. We are still on site and continuing to make progress, the latest statement reads. Our teams have been carrying out further valve operations to minimise disruption and begin restoring water to as many customers as possible."
Homes across Croydon and neighbouring boroughs lost running water after a pipe burst in a field next to Watneys Road. Up to 18,000 homes were left without water or with very low pressure across postcodes including CR0, CR2, CR4, CR7, CR8, CR9, SM6 and SW16. Thames Water dispatched water tankers and remained on site conducting valve operations to redirect flow through alternative pipes and minimise disruption while gaining safe access to the damaged section for repairs. Teams aimed to restore supplies the same day. A separate incident on January 21 caused flooding in Holland Park when another burst expelled around 600 litres per second.
