The US commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick, confirmed that as part of a trade deal with the UK, engine parts from Rolls-Royce would be exempt from tariffs, ensuring easier access to the US market.
UK businesses secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, highlighted that the deal assures zero tariffs for the aerospace industry, which is crucial for the 40 billion sector supporting 450,000 jobs in the UK.
The anticipated agreement also addresses vehicle tariffs, significantly lowering them from 27.5% to 10% for 100,000 cars yearly and eliminating steel tariffs altogether.
Peter Mandelson, the UK ambassador to the US, mentioned that the agreement on car exports has already prevented potential job losses at Jaguar Land Rover.
