The Independent deploys reporters across issues such as reproductive rights, climate change and Big Tech, producing investigations and documentaries while refusing paywalls. Donor funding supports on-the-ground journalism to present multiple perspectives and sustain free access to analysis. A Gallup worldwide poll found that 21 per cent of Britons named immigration as their top concern, higher than any other country; the Netherlands and Cyprus followed at 13 per cent. The poll covered 107 countries with a median of 1 per cent naming immigration as the biggest issue. Gallup found no clear relationship between concern levels and proportions of foreign-born residents; increased news prominence and limited reliable data may contribute to rising anxiety.
