Vinod Sekhar, 57, was ambushed on September 27 by two men as he stepped out of his car near his daughter's apartment in Battersea, southwest London. The attackers seized his luxury Richard Mille watch, smothered and struck him on the chest and thighs, leaving him bloodied and bruised. His wife, Winny Yeap, defended him by swinging bags at the assailants. At Kingston Crown Court, 34-year-old Djamel Benadda pleaded guilty to the robbery and to related thefts and handling stolen goods, while disputing the claimed £100,000 value of the watch.
