"From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging. At such a critical moment"
"Then at 8.30 in the morning, I got a call saying we can't find the flamingo', and I came back to the park to find she wasn't there and we had no idea where she was. We were pretty certain she'd flown out, there couldn't have been any other scenarios really. She was inside our walled garden which has a 12-foot wall and aviaries built against that. So she's got herself up and over the top of that, which is quite surprising."
The Independent seeks donations to fund on-the-ground reporting across issues such as reproductive rights, climate change, and Big Tech, emphasizing non-paywalled access and belief that quality journalism should be paid by those who can afford it. A four-month-old flamingo named Frankie escaped from a walled garden at Paradise Park in Hayle, Cornwall on the morning of November 2 despite having one wing clipped. Keepers feared she had flown away after failing to locate her. Photographs taken in Tréfléz, Brittany show Frankie has reached northern France. Nick Reynolds, director of Paradise Park, described finding the enclosure empty and expressed surprise that Frankie managed to get over the 12-foot wall.
