"An item was placed without permission on a gallery wall in National Museum Cardiff. We were alerted to this and have removed the item in question."
Elias Marrow installed an AI-generated digital print titled Empty Plate in National Museum Cardiff's contemporary art section on 29 October. The print depicts a young boy in a Welsh school uniform holding a book with an empty plate on his lap. The work was presented as a digital print on paper housed in a custom-made frame and displayed with a wall text giving the title. A website statement frames the piece as representing the state of Wales in 2025 and referencing Victorian charity propaganda, and indicates it was gifted to Cardiff Museum. Museum staff removed the item after discovering it on the gallery wall.
