An earthquake with a 7.7 magnitude hits Myanmar
Briefly

On 28 March 2025, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Sagaing, Myanmar. Reports indicate a depth of 10 km and tremors felt as far away as Thailand and south-west China. A significant aftershock of 6.4 magnitude occurred shortly after. Eyewitness accounts describe devastation, including collapsed bridges and damaged structures in both Myanmar and neighboring countries. The situation is exacerbated by Myanmar's political climate, particularly since the military coup in 2021, complicating information gathering and aid delivery efforts in a country already facing civil unrest.
Getting information from there is very challenging. Getting aid in will be a huge challenge, too.
This, in a country ravaged by civil war. I've seen videos and pictures of bridges collapsing, pagodas and temples destroyed.
