African tribe' living in Scottish woods banned from returning to former site
"Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story."
"A self-styled African tribe living in a woodland area in the Scottish Borders have been banned from moving back to private land they were previously evicted from. The group, who have named themselves the Kingdom of Kubala', have been living in the woods in Jedburgh since May, and were served with an eviction notice last month as they were on private land."
An appeal requests donations to fund on-the-ground reporting across reproductive rights, climate change and Big Tech while keeping journalism accessible without paywalls. A self-styled African group calling itself the Kingdom of Kubala' camped in woods near Jedburgh since May and faced eviction from private land. The trio shifted their campsite onto neighbouring council-owned land after receiving an eviction notice. Selkirk Sheriff Court ruled the trio may not return to the original private plot and issued orders restricting access to council-owned land. The group members are identified as Kofi Offeh (36), Jean Gasho (43) and Kaura Taylor (21).
