At the end of the penultimate stage of the 2018 Tour de France, Geraint Thomas became the first Welshman and only the third British rider to win cycling's most coveted prize. Thomas rolled across the finish line on stage 6 of the men's Tour of Britain four minutes after winner Olav Kooij in his hometown of Cardiff. He was greeted by his wife Sara, son Macs, family, friends, his Ineos Grenadiers colleagues and thousands of adoring fans. Speaking to Welsh broadcaster S4C with his son perched on his handlebars, Thomas choked up and struggled to speak as tears flowed.
