"Be prepared for thunderstorms in the summer because they can come up quickly. Most people in Dresden speak English, but in the smaller towns, it isn't as common, because the older people learned Russian when they were growing up. People are very friendly and helpful! The Dresden airport is small and convenient to fly to, and the main train station is only about a 30 minute train ride away."
"Prague is a city filled with classical music concerts typically held in churches and synagogues. The price of admission is reasonable, and the music is wonderful. We went to a different concert each night we were in Prague. Our last night, the sunset was especially beautiful over Prague Castle."
Sean and Caroline Sorenson visited Pirna near Dresden, toured downtown Dresden which has been rebuilt after World War II, and took a steam train to Moritzberg, a hunting lodge and park. Caroline advises preparing for sudden summer thunderstorms, notes English is common in Dresden but less so in smaller towns where older people learned Russian, and describes friendly, helpful locals plus a small, convenient Dresden airport and a main train station about 30 minutes away. Steven Sosnowski and Christopher Kenward cruised the Danube on AMA Waterways’ Magana, stopping in Budapest, Passau, Vienna, Salzburg, Prague and smaller towns like Linz, Melk and Esztergom. They enjoyed traveling with Mercury Wine club members and attended nightly classical concerts in Prague’s churches and synagogues, finding admission reasonable and the music and sunsets memorable.
