WATCH: This Is Why You Should Never Tell a Flight Attendant to Shut Up'
"Do you want to get off the plane? Because I don't feel comfortable with you if you're not going to follow instructions,"
"You're not on my list as someone who can't hear. So I'm going to ask the pilot to remove you because you're not complying. You know what you did, right?"
"The flight attendant might've caught a stray. I think the passenger knows she was wrong,"
"PSA Listen and be kind to your flight attendants, or else."
On a Tuesday flight from Costa Rica to Texas, a passenger interrupted the standard pre-flight safety briefing and told a flight attendant to 'shut up.' The flight attendant stepped away from the address system and confronted the traveler, warning, "Do you want to get off the plane? Because I don't feel comfortable with you if you're not going to follow instructions." The passenger said she could not hear; the attendant said the passenger was not listed as hearing-impaired and would ask the pilot to remove her for noncompliance. The passenger was escorted off the aircraft as other travelers watched. A seatmate who filmed the exchange expressed sympathy for both sides and urged kindness toward flight attendants. American Airlines has not commented.
