Train tickets go on sale for France's May 2026 holiday weekends
"Ticket sales are now open for the period March 30th to July 3rd - it's a good idea to try and book train tickets now on SNCF connect, Trainline, or Kombo to find the best prices before the trains fill up, triggering a rapid price increase. So far the SNCF Connect website has been experiencing a surge in traffic since sales opened at 6am on Wednesday."
"Easter weekend (which gives you Monday April 6th off), May 1st and May 8th are currently the periods for which train tickets have sold the most. During the previous sales period (up to March 29th 2026), nearly 1.5 million tickets were sold in a single day on SNCF Connect. Tickets are also available from competitors like Trenitalia (Paris-Lyon-Milan and Paris-Marseille)."
SNCF opened ticket sales for travel from March 30 to July 3, covering Easter and the May public-holiday periods. Passengers are advised to book early on SNCF Connect, Trainline or Kombo to secure lower fares before dynamic pricing raises prices as trains fill. SNCF Connect saw a surge in traffic when sales began at 6am, with site and app visits running twice a typical day and ticket sales 20% higher at 11am versus the same sales opening last year. Easter weekend (including Monday April 6), May 1 and May 8 have the highest demand. A potential long weekend from May 14–17 depends on taking May 15 off. Competing services such as Trenitalia also have tickets for some routes.
