This Lesser-known Tennessee Town Has Beautiful Waterfalls, Scenic Trails, and Warm Hospitality-and It's Just 1.5 Hours From Nashville
Briefly

Cookeville is a hidden gem in Tennessee, located between Nashville and Knoxville. It boasts stunning waterfalls, charming accommodations, and outdoor activities ideal for families and pets. Visitors can experience warm hospitality, unique shopping, local art, and peaceful escapes. Cummins Falls is a must-visit attraction, offering permits for access to its gorge. Travelers should plan to explore the area by car, ensuring they can enjoy the scenic routes and various parks without the hassle of tourist crowds.
Cookeville welcomes you with cascading waterfalls, cozy accommodations, toddler- and dog-friendly parks and trails, and some of the warmest hospitality I've experienced in the South.
I always tell visitors there's truly something for everyone in Cookeville. Whether you're looking for outdoor adventure, quiet, cozy evenings, unique shopping, local art, or family-friendly fun, our area offers everything.
If you're visiting, one of the top things to do is spend time at Cummins Falls; it was hands-down my favorite spot in the area.
Cookeville delivers everything I love about a Gatlinburg getaway, but without the traffic or the long restaurant waitlists.
