"In September 2024, All Clear Travel Insurance released its rankings for the coziest cities on the planet. It came to its conclusion after it created a seed list of cities regularly mentioned on social media and in publications as being "cozy" and popular for fall and winter city breaks. It then gave each city data points based on the number of UNESCO World Heritage sites, bookstores, cafes, cinemas, theaters, and museums per square mile."

"After tallying it all up, the team named San Francisco the coziest destination in the United States and the No. 12 coziest in the world. Though really, for anyone who frequently visits the northern Californian city, it's no surprise that San Francisco took the crown for the coziest spot in the nation. All Clear Travel Insurance created a ranked list of the coziest cities in September 2024 using a seed list of frequently mentioned "cozy" destinations. The ranking applied weighted data points including UNESCO World Heritage sites, bookstores, cafes, cinemas, theaters, museums per square mile, annual precipitation, and counts of Instagram posts using "#cozy[city]" to generate a score out of 100 for each city. San Francisco emerged as the coziest city in the United States and placed No. 12 worldwide. San Francisco is characterized by fog-kissed mornings, Victorian houses, numerous neighborhood cafes, and attractions such as City Lights Bookstore, the Palace of Fine Arts, and Golden Gate Park. Brussels ranked as the coziest city overall.
