"More than anything the thought of an extra hour's drive after a four hour flight can naturally put people off. Trust me when I say, that additional hour is worth the effort. The drive up is not for the faint hearted but if you can stomach the mountain and coastal roads, you'll be treated to some stunning views and the only traffic you'll likely encounter is goats (there are around 10,000 of them on the Island)."
"Fiscardo itself is an achingly quaint Greek fishing village. Because of its setting, stunning Venetian architecture and many waterfront restaurants, it naturally attracts quite a wealthy crowd (including the odd super yacht). Yet, even with its increasing popularity, it still retains its rustic charms. It has a tiny population of just over 150 which is naturally eclipsed by tourists at busier times of the year."
Fiscardo is a small harbour village at the very northern tip of Kefalonia, known for its stunning Venetian architecture, waterfront restaurants and rustic fishing-village charm. Most tourists stay in the southern island near the airport, but the additional hour's drive north rewards visitors with dramatic mountain and coastal scenery and iconic views such as Myrtos Beach and the peninsula village of Assos. Traffic is minimal and often consists of goats, with around 10,000 on the island. Fiscardo's permanent population is just over 150, swelling with tourists in summer and becoming very quiet in winter. May and October are ideal shoulder months offering warm but comfortable weather.
