Ruth Medjber: After staying in the B&B from hell, with black mould, cobwebs and a hairy puddle, I pity tourists holidaying in Ireland
"I used to enjoy travelling around Ireland - but this accommodation experience has put me off it completely"
"My campervan burnt down in February this year. Before that, I was an avid traveller around Ireland."
"I'd think nothing of hitting the road on a whim and staying out for weeks at a time in tiny villages, hanging out with the locals, until work would drag me back to Dublin or beyond."
The traveller frequently took spontaneous trips around Ireland, using a campervan to stay in tiny villages and socialise with locals for weeks at a time. A campervan burned down in February, ending that pattern of travel. Prior to the fire, the traveller identified as an avid traveller who often hit the road on a whim. A subsequent accommodation experience removed all enthusiasm for travelling around Ireland. Work obligations continue to draw the traveller back to Dublin and beyond, but leisure travel has stopped since these incidents.
