Cost estimates assume a U.S.-based traveler doing on-piste skiing, renting equipment locally, skiing four days in peak season and staying six nights. More than 450 ski areas exist in Japan and a similar number in the U.S.; analysis narrowed to 10 popular resorts paired by snow quality, terrain and experience. Airfare was calculated using round-trip economy fares from LAX to nearest major airports for the Feb. 22–28, 2026 peak window, with prices and currency conversions subject to change.
