The upgrade cost seemed modest compared with typical prices and reduced discomfort on a nearly 13-hour flight within an overall roughly 24-hour travel day. Most premium perks like extra checked bags and priority boarding were unnecessary for me, but the larger, more comfortable seats made the long flight restful.
