"TSA PreCheck remains operational with no change for the traveling public"
"prioritizing the general traveling population"
"courtesy and special privilege escorts."
"Travelers should be prioritized,"
DHS announced suspension of TSA PreCheck and Global Entry as emergency measures to redistribute security personnel amid a partial government shutdown that began Feb. 14. Funding for DHS and other agencies expired, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem framed the move as prioritizing the general traveling population and described the programs as courtesy and special privilege escorts. Airport staff reported the declaration was rescinded and both TSA and CBP advised operations were normal. Travel industry leaders condemned the initial suspension as politically motivated. TSA said it would adjust operations case by case for staffing constraints.
