"During a four-day closure planned over the October half-term school holidays, engineers will be replacing rail, sleepers, drainage systems and equipment at Mitre Bridge level crossing. Slightly confusingly, despite its name and being near the Mitre Bridge on Scrubs Lane that crosses over the Grand Union Canal, the level crossing itself is on a semi-private road leading to an industrial estate."
"However, it will close the railway between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction. Although only Southern services pass over the level crossing itself, it sits just a few metres north of the rail junction that carries the London Overground services on the Mildmay line, and replacing the tracks on the level crossing affects the junction as well. Therefore, the Overground's Mildmay line will be suspended between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction, and Southern Railway services will be suspended between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction."
"That also means no mainline railway services at: Imperial Wharf West Brompton Kensington Olympia Shepherds Bush The railway will be closed from Saturday 25th October to Tuesday 28th October 2025. With the level crossing at the end of its design life, the level crossing needs to be replaced, and apart from reducing the risk of unexpected closures in the future, Network Rail says it will be able to remove a speed restriction on the line, which should slightly speed up passenger journeys."
A section of the London Overground in west London will be closed for four days over the October half-term to replace a life-expired level crossing at Mitre Bridge. Engineers will replace rail, sleepers, drainage and crossing equipment, and carry out associated track maintenance. The closure affects the rail junction north of the crossing, suspending the Mildmay line between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction and Southern services between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction, removing mainline calls at Imperial Wharf, West Brompton, Kensington Olympia and Shepherds Bush. Work is scheduled for 25–28 October 2025 and includes renewing 2,000 metres of high-voltage power cables to support signalling and communications, and aims to remove a speed restriction and reduce future unexpected closures.
