Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on Motorcycling Through 17 Countries in Long Way Home
Briefly

In Europe, many travelers from Britain favor warmer destinations like Spain and France over northern locations. However, experiencing the varied landscapes of northern Europe can be rewarding. A surprising find in Finland featured stunning wetlands and rocky islands, allowing for peaceful outdoor experiences. In Norway, an impromptu stop allowed for breathtaking views and spontaneity. Planning travels around unique local events enhances the experience, with unexpected joys emerging from chance encounters, like a lively marching band in Germany. Being open to experiences is key to maximizing enjoyment during travel.
There were these huge fresh water wetlands with hundreds of little rocky islands. We went there on this little, beautiful, old boat. Me, Charley, our cameramen, were dropped off on the island for the night.
When we first plan the route, we look for events that stand out and that we'd really like to do. So we plotted out to do the snowmobile race and other things that would be on certain days.
