As U.S. international travel rises, especially to Europe, checking passport validity is crucial. Travelers could face denial of entry if passport rules are not followed. Ravi Kumar, a passport advisor, emphasizes that travelers must ensure their documents are valid, as airlines typically do not inform passengers of these requirements. Those who fail to do so may find themselves returning home at their own expense. To avoid issues, travelers should consult the immigration website of their destination country and consider quick renewal options if their passport is near expiration.
If an oversight happens and they slip through, the traveler will be refused entry upon arrival at the destination country, where they will be forced to purchase a return ticket on the spot to their home country.
Most of our clients in such situations complain that the airlines did not inform them about the passport validity rules when purchasing the tickets, and the airlines say that their job is to sell tickets and not deal with the immigration requirements of destination countries.
