Travel during the Thanksgiving holiday is expected to reach 15-year highs. The Federal Aviation Administration projects more than 360,000 flights from this week through Dec. 1, with a peak of over 52,000 flights on Tuesday and roughly 25,611 flights on Thanksgiving Day. The U.S. Department of Transportation estimates about 16.9 million people will fly during the holiday week. Los Angeles International Airport anticipates 2.5 million travelers from Nov. 20 through Monday, with Sunday as LAX's single busiest day. FAA officials credited air traffic controllers and urged travelers to travel with confidence.
