New York City was the second most regretted destination for US-based tourists, behind Las Vegas, with 9% wanting a do-over. Travel Guard released the findings ahead of summer to reduce the likelihood of booking regretted trips. Regret most often came from something going wrong, followed by feeling too stressed to enjoy the visit, and improper planning. Additional causes included insufficient money for travel expenses and choosing the wrong travel companion. Overall, 97% of travelers reported regretting at least one vacation and US travelers estimated wasting $1,490 on trips they wish they never took. Nearly a third of travelers posted positive social media content about trips they regretted. The survey polled 1,022 US travelers and 200 from 18 countries about trips in the past year they wished had gone differently.
