Air New Zealand is launching Economy Skynest sleeping pods on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flights, featuring six horizontal bunk beds for economy passengers. Available from May 18 for select flights starting in November, these pods include a mattress, bedding, privacy curtain, and charging ports. Passengers must still purchase a seat and pay an additional fee of NZ$495 for a session. Only two sessions per flight are available, and certain restrictions apply, such as no double-bunking or strong-smelling perfumes. Development of the Skynest has been ongoing since 2020.
